The 10 Most Terrifying Things About Item Upgrading
Path of Exile Item Upgrading
item upgrading - talking to - allows players to improve their weapons and equipment with new affixes, increasing its stats base or providing additional benefits. To upgrade items, players must have the item in their inventory and have access to the kiln.
Items with weak bases, like rings can be upgraded to stronger bases. Items with strong bases, like Titans from eth, have no changes in their stats.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components can be added to weapons, armors trinkets, weapons, and gathering tools. They can be used as an attribute bonus or additional effect, when the equipment is being used. They can be bought from vendors, found in loot, dropped by enemies or as a reward from missions or chests. Some upgrades have additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level to upgrade.
In order to upgrade a weapon or piece of armor, the user must select it and then click the Upgrade button located in the toolbar. The screen will show on the right-hand side of the screen a preview of the expected upgrade stats and the required component or materials.
There are three kinds that are universal upgrades (which include gems), prefix upgrades, and suffix upgrade components. Universal upgrades, like gems, are able to be used on any kind of equipment. They offer a lesser bonus than upgrade components that have a type limitation. Infusions are jewels that are only available in equipment that is legendary or ascended. They provide the same benefits as jewels, but cannot be used in other equipment. Suffix upgrades are able to be placed in gathering tools, will add their name to the end of the name of the item they are connected to, for example adding a Glyph to a Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor would make it a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.
In the case of upgrades for gathering tools If a player replaces one glyph with a different one the previous glyph will be returned to the inventory. However replacing any other upgrade component can destroy it, excluding inscriptions which can be freely swapped.
Leveling
The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some significant variations from earlier versions. Gear is now categorized in tracks and each item can be upgraded as many times before it's "leveled out." The cost of upgrading increases with each level, however the materials required for upgrades do not. This lets players focus their efforts on a few essential items and maximize their impact instead of spreading the upgrade costs across multiple items.
This allows the item to receive upgraded components and a higher chance of success. This bonus is referred to as the Artisan's Energy and it will reset to zero after failure or increases if the upgrade succeeds.
When a piece of equipment is upgraded to its maximum level, it will be able to be given affixes that enhance its capabilities. The number of affixes available is determined by the item's type. For instance, a rare or unique weapon with a base that is normal will have only two affixes available for it and a legendary armor will have up to eight affixes for it.
Each upgrade requires a specific number of Flightstones or Crests, depending on whether the item is at its current level and in what slot it is in. Weapons will typically require more Flightstones than other equipment.
If an item doesn't attain its maximum level, the NPC grants the player the choice to transfer it to a new character and then re-infuse it with a different set of upgrades. This process takes up to two hours and costs the same amount of materials, though it will have less chance of success.
Engineers utilize a level to measure the height of the building with an established point, such as the benchmark. This is referred to as a "level-loop." It involves taking readings with the level and backsight rod before turning the level to make the foresight rod reading. This method ensures that structures are built to a high level of accuracy and safety.
Rerolling
Rerolling refers to the process of altering an item's upgrade components. It is a vital aspect of the game and can dramatically increase the strength of an item or damage, as well as other characteristics. This can be done via the item menu or using the Reroll button on an upgraded item. Rerolling is costly and should only be performed in the rarest of circumstances.
The game allows players to recycle upgraded items, and use them to earn reroll tokens. These tokens can then be used to upgrade the original item or an item upgrader mod of the same type. Recyclable items come with a level gauge that shows how much of the upgrade gauge is filled. The rarity and cost of upgrading an item will determine the level of filling.
In the past, some upgrade items had priority affixes which made them easier to roll for than other. This meant that you'd receive the stats that mattered most to your build often than other. These included things such as the armor's total armor, thorns and control impaired duration reduction stats or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.
This has changed since the most recent patch. Priority affixes are no longer required and all upgrades will have the same chance of rolling for every stat. This can be a great or a negative thing depending on your requirements and wants from your equipment.
Each upgraded item can also be equipped with a special bonus that boosts the item's power by a set percentage or flat value. These bonuses are rolled into the standard affixes. The more you upgrade an item, the greater your chance of getting an exclusive bonus.
The game also includes a number of sets, which grant a set bonus when three or more upgraded items from the same set are placed on a unit. This is a great method to add a lot of power to a character without spending a lot of money.
Many players opt to reroll their gear and weapons, especially in the early stages of the game. This is because rerolling could give players a faster path to a powerful character which allows them to achieve higher levels and progress in the game faster.
Sets
Sets are groups of elements that can be put together in a variety of ways. They can be of different dimensions, have no elements, or have a single element. They can be used for organizing data or sorting information. They also aid in analysing patterns. Sets can be classified in a variety of ways, including by size and shape.
There are a range of set items available to upgrade in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Certain items are worth upgrading, while others aren't. Armor sets with high defense or set bonuses are generally worth upgrading. Weapon upgrades are not as effective in improving stats as their counterparts in purple. This makes them less appealing to upgrade in the event that your collection of weapons and armor pieces is already huge.
Some set items are upgraded to meet their own unique functions which can be useful in some builds. Guillaume's Face face and Aldur's Advance boots are examples of this. Both were upgraded from Exceptional Winged Helm and Exceptional Mirrored Boots respectively, increasing their defense by 217 to 321 (Strength requirement and Level requirement were increased as well).
Another reason for upgrading certain items is to bring them into parity with their levels. The Immortal King Set, for instance, comes with a wide range of levels, ranging from 29 to 75. Upgrades to lower level items can improve their defense, and increase their competitiveness in terms of damage.
Clicking the Upgrade button will show the attributes of the item as well as the items required to upgrade it. The item's attributes will be displayed together with any required items. To upgrade the No-mouth Face, for example, 1.1K Scrap Materials will be required, along with 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards. Players can also look up the upgrade requirements for specific items at the Cyrodiil Golden vendor or Leaderboard.
In general, armor and weapons have a higher trade value when fully updated. Upgrades to gold are recommended for weapons that have weapons-damage or spell glyphs. This will result in a significant increase in their performance. This will also increase the defense value of armor with a newer appearance.
