World of Warcraft item upgrade Upgrades

Item upgrades are a way to increase the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade it can raise an item's Mark level or Rarity, and also boost other stats.

Each item comes with a track for upgrading it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next one by a set amount.

Item Level

When an Best item upgrade is upgraded, its basic stats improve in value. This is the sum of an item's leveled-up perks (attack magic attack and defense). The cost of upgrading items can be high depending on the upgrader and the type of upgrade you choose to do. This is due to the number of perks that must be altered to upgrade an item.

It is also used to enforce gating requirements when queueing for raids, dungeons and scenarios. It also serves to limit the amount of PvP gear players are able to wear, since PvP is limited at lower levels. The average item level can be found on the character sheet.

Using the item level will allow players to compare the strength of equipment when they decide to buy or sell. It's an indicator of the item's condition and its quality. Comparing items in the inventory of a vendor can be done using the item level.

On PC, you are able to see the level of the item by pressing ALT or using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will show the item's full description, including the ilvl. It can also be found by hovering an item with the mouse cursor, and then entering /itemlevel into chat.

There are several theories about how the level of an item is determined. One theory suggests that the level of an item is calculated by formulas that determine how valuable the stats of an item really are. It considers the fact that various perks have different value, and also that gems in sockets add to the overall value of the item. This can result in a calculated value for the item's level, which is usually quite close to Blizzard's actual level of the item.

This is not the only thing that affects the ilvl of an item. The level of the area where the item dropped can also alter its stats. For instance, it could add a level to the item's haste or crit score. Items that drop in higher-level situations will have higher ilvl.

Item Stats

The item's stats can be the difference between a good or bad item for players. The game uses them in many ways to encourage players to not restrict themselves to a particular weapon, and to encourage them to try out other weapons. The stat mods of an weapon increase the base stats. These stat mods are then boosted by a player's level.

Upgrades to the item add by boosting certain stats on the item. The rarity of an item determines the cost of upgrading. For instance, a grey or white item will only be upgraded once, whereas items with rare tiers can be upgraded many times with higher prices.

Another method to alter the stats of an item is to use affixes. They are stat boosts that can be added by the player to an item. The affixes are used to give items additional damage or special capabilities (such as revitalizing dead or reducing cooling downs) or to distinguish them by naming them.

At present, all affixes can be modified by selecting them in the upgrade window and pressing the green button, which is accompanied by circling arrows. This process will cost the player a specific amount of gold as well as items that can be added to the upgrade gauge in the same way as the other options for rerolling.

Players can upgrade item an item to specific stats or reroll the affixes. The stat ranges are determined by the item's level. However every item will include at least one stat within the same range, unless it's a unique item, or an item that has a God Roll from a raid boss.

This is another aspect that could be changed by introducing an option to upgrade the equipment without having to reroll the affixes or choosing which stats to enhance. As with base equipment, it would have to be done per item and the item comparison interface wouldn't display all possible stats at once.

Item Luck

The Luck stat for a player adds up to increase the likelihood of finding items, the properties spawned on loot drops and the intensity of those properties. It does not, however directly impact damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives players the chance to upgrade their equipment in earlier waves and is thus more useful in the initial game run as opposed to later ones, because most players value greater weapon scaling and defense over damage gains.

In addition to influencing item discovery, Luck also increases the chances of being successful when upgrading items using the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall chance of upgrading that increases with each level of the item and can be further increased through the use of an anti-material such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.

Armor, shields, and weapons have the default Luck value of 40. These items can then be upgraded with golden ingots, spined leather or oak boards (depending on the item's material type) to grant a further +40 Luck or to increase the Luck of an item up to 140.

Additionally there are certain items, like the Hollow infused weapon can be outfitted to increase the damage dealt by any damage-dealing skill by 5%. These items are available in the shop or created with the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Not all upgrades work. However, there are cash shop items that allow players to increase their chances of success or even prevent them from losing an item upgrader mod if the upgrade is unsuccessful.

The rate of success of an upgrade is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the chance of successfully upgrading that item and it can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. The chance of success can only be increased so high, and the probability that an upgrade will fail cannot exceed 100%..

The success of an upgrades is also influenced by the Luck of that item. All items have a success rate of 25 percent and each item that has Luck increases the chance of success by 5%.

The item upgrade overlays are rendered above the items in the inventory. This may block enchantment effects as well as other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
