World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Item upgrades are a way to increase the stats of an item. Depending on the upgrade type, it may raise an item's Mark level or Rarity and boost additional stats.

Each item has a track for upgrading it. Each upgrade increases the price of the next item by a specified amount.

Item Level

The value of an item's stats base increases as it is upgraded. This value is the sum of an item's upgraded perks (attack magic attack and defense). The cost of upgrading items can be high, depending on the upgrader and the type of upgrade you choose to make. This is due to how many perks must be replaced in order for the item to get upgraded.

item upgrade level is a commonly used measure of power, and is visible on all tooltips of items. It also serves as a gating requirement while queueing for dungeons, scenarios and raids, and to limit the amount of PvP gear that a player can wear (since PvP is limited to an lower level). Players can view their average item level in their character sheet.

When deciding whether to purchase or sell equipment players can evaluate the levels of the item. It's an indicator of the item's damage and its quality. The item level can also be used to evaluate items when evaluating the inventory of a seller.

The item level can be seen by pressing the ALT key on your PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will display the full description of the item, as well as its value. It can also be found by hovering over an item using the mouse cursor and typing /itemlevel into chat.

There are a variety of theories on how the level of an item is calculated. One theory says that the level of an item is calculated by formulas that determine the value of an item's stats actually are. It takes into consideration that different perks are valued differently, and that gems in the sockets increase the value of the Best item upgrade. This can result in a calculated value for the item's ilvl, which is usually quite close to Blizzard's actual item level.

It's not the only thing that affects the ilvl of an item. The location of where the item was dropped may alter its stats. For example, it could add a level to the item's haste, or crit rating. This means that items dropped at higher levels will have higher value than items dropped in lower-level instances.

Item Stats

The stats of an item can determine the fate of an item for players. The game makes use of a lot of them in various ways to encourage players to use multiple weapons, and prevent one weapon from being "the most effective." The stat mods on weapons boost base stats. These stat mods are then increased by the player's level.

Item upgrades add to that by boosting certain stats on the item. The upgrade costs are determined by the rarity of the item. For instance, a gray or white item will only be upgraded once, whereas an item with rare tiers can be upgraded many times, at higher costs.

Another method to alter the stats of an item is to use affixes. They are stat boosts which can be added by the player to an item upgrader kit. The affixes can be used to give items extra damage, special capabilities (such as the ability to revive dead or reduce cooling downs), or to differentiate them by adding a name.

Currently, all affixes can be rerolled by selecting them from the upgrade window and pressing the green button using circles arrows. This process will cost the player a certain amount of gold and items that can be used to add to the upgrade gauge in the same way as the other rerolling options.

Players can choose to upgrade an item with a specific stat or reroll attaches. The stat ranges are determined by the item's level. However each item will include at least one stat within the range, unless they are an item that is unique or a God Roll from a raid boss.

This is another thing that can be modified by adding the option to upgrade the equipment without having to reroll the affixes or deciding which stats to enhance. But as with base equipment, this would need to be performed on a per-item basis and the interface for item comparison wouldn't show all possible stats either lost or gained at the same time.

Item Luck

The Luck stat for a player adds up to increase the chances of item discoveries, the properties spawned on loot drops and the strength of the properties. However, it does not directly affect damage or ability to upgrade items. It merely gives players the chance to upgrade their equipment earlier in the game, and is therefore more beneficial in the early game as opposed to later ones, because most players value more powerful weapon scaling and defenses over the raw damage gain.

Luck can also boost the chance of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith’s overall upgrade chances that increase with each new level of item. These can also be increased by using anti-materials, such as a Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.

The shields, armor, and weapons have a default Luck value of 40. These items can be enhanced with golden ingots or spined leather (depending on the material they are made of) to add another 40 luck, or to increase the luck of the item to 140.

Additionally there are certain items, such as the Hollow weapon, which is infused with Hollow can be outfitted to boost the damage of any damage-dealing skill by five percent. These items are available at the store or crafted using the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Not all upgrades are successful. Cash shop items can be used to increase the chances of success for an upgrade or to prevent players from losing their item if it does not work.

When you upgrade an item, the success rate is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage is the probability of successful upgrading an item. This can be increased by using Additional Materials or Special materials. There are limitations to how much success rates can be increased, and the overall chance of an upgrade failing cannot exceed 100%..

The Luck of an item can also influence the effectiveness of an upgrade item. Every item upgrader mod has an initial success rate of 25% and every item with Luck increases that chance by an additional 5%.

The item upgrade overlays are rendered above items in the inventory. This could block enchantment effects as well as other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
