Item Luck

The Luck stat for a player adds up to increase the chances of finding items as well as the properties that appear on loot drops, and the intensity of these properties. However, it does not directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It simply gives players the chance to upgrade their equipment in earlier waves, and is therefore more valuable in the early game than later ones as most players prioritize greater weapon scaling and defense over the raw damage gain.

Luck can also increase the likelihood of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade probability which increases with each item level and can be further enhanced through the use of an anti-material such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.

The shields, armor, and weapons have an initial Luck value of 40. These items can be augmented with golden ingots, or spined leather (depending on their material type) to increase the value of 40 luck or to increase an item's existing Luck up to 140.

Moreover some items, like the Hollow weapon that is infused with hollow can be outfitted to increase the damage of any damage-dealing skill by 5%. These items are available in the shop or crafted using the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Upgrades to items are a costly process and not every upgrade will be successful. Cash shop items can be used to boost the chances of success for an upgrade, or to protect players from losing their items if it does not work.

When you upgrade item an item the success rate is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the chance of completing the upgrade successfully, and can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. The probability of success can only be increased as high, and the probability that an upgrade will fail can't exceed 100%..

The luck of an item can also affect the effectiveness of an upgrade. Every item has an overall success rate of 25%, and each item with Luck increases this chance by 5%.

Note that item upgrades are rendered above the inventory items therefore enchantment glints and other effects can be obstructed by the overlays.
