World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Upgrades to items can be used to increase the stats of a particular item. Depending on the type of upgrade, it can boost the rarity of an item or mark Level, and also boost other stats.

The process of upgrading gear in The War Within requires a specified number of Flightstones and Crests and each item has an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next item upgrading by a certain amount.

Item Level

When an item is upgraded, its stats improve in value. The value is the sum of all its leveled up benefits (attack, magic attack and defense). Upgrades can be expensive depending on the person you hire and what you do. This is due to the number of perks that must be changed in order to upgrade an item.

It is also used as a gating requirement while queueing for dungeons, raids and scenarios. It also serves to limit the amount of PvP gear players can use since PvP is not available at a lower level. The average level of the item is listed on the character sheet.

Using the item level will allow players to compare the potency of gear when deciding to purchase or sell. It's an indicator of the item's damage and its quality. Comparing items in the inventory of a seller can be done using the item's level.

On PC, you are able to view the item level using ALT, or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will display the complete description of the item, including its level. You can also find it by hovering over an item and typing /itemlevel into chat.

There are several theories on how the calculation of the item's level is made. One theory is that the level is a number derived from a formula which calculates the value of an item's stats are worth. It is based on the fact that different benefits are valued differently and that gems in the sockets increase the value of the item. This can result in a calculated item's ilvl that is often very close to Blizzards actual item level.

However, this isn't the only factor that can affect an item's ilvl because the size of the area the item was dropped in could change the value of its stats, for example by adding an additional level to its haste rating or crit rating. Items that drop in higher-level situations will have a higher value.

Item Stats

The stats of an item are a major part of what makes or breaks an item for players. The game utilizes them in various ways to encourage players not to limit themselves to one weapon and to encourage players to experiment with other weapons. The stat mods on a weapon boost the base stats. These stat mods are then increased by a player's level.

The upgrades to items add by increasing certain stats of the item. The rarity of an item determines the cost of upgrading. For instance, a grey or white item will only be upgraded once, whereas an item with rare levels will be upgraded multiple times with higher prices.

Affixes can also be used to alter the stats of an item. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player and come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Affixes are used to provide items with extra damage, special capabilities (such as reviving dead or reducing cooling downs), or to make them unique by naming them.

All affixes are currently re-rolled by selecting them in the upgrade window and pressing the green button. This procedure will cost the player a certain amount of gold as well as items which can be added to the upgrade gauge in the same manner as other options for rerolling.

Players can upgrade an item by a specific stat or reroll affixes. The range of stats determined by the item's level. However, all items will include at least one stat within that range unless they are an exclusive item or a God Roll from a boss in a raid.

Another thing that could change is the option to upgrade equipment without having to reroll the affixes, or choose which stats to enhance. But, like base equipment, this would have to be carried out on a per-item basis, and the interface for item comparison wouldn't show all possible stats that were gained or lost at the same time.

Item Luck

The Luck stat for a player adds up to increase the chances of finding items and the properties that are spawned from loot drops, and the intensity of those properties. However, it does not directly affect damage or ability to upgrade items. It merely gives the player a possibility to obtain better equipment in earlier waves and is thus more beneficial in the initial game run than later ones because most players value more powerful weapon scaling and defenses over damage gains.

In addition to influencing item discovery, Luck also increases the probability of success when upgrading items using the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith’s overall chances of upgrading, which increase with each level of the item. They can also be increased by using anti-materials such as the Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.

Armor, shields and weapons can be created or spawned using the Luck property, which has an initial value of 40. These items can then be enhanced by golden ingots, spined leather, or oak boards (depending on the type of material used) to grant a further +40 Luck or to boost the luck of an item, up to 140.

Additionally there are certain items, such as the Hollow infused weapon, can be equipped to increase the damage of any damage-dealing skill by 5%. These items can be purchased at the store, or they can be crafted using the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Not all upgrades work. Cash shop items can be used to increase the success rate of an upgrade or to stop players from losing their item in the event that it is not successful.

The rate of success of an upgrade item is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the chance of completing the upgrade successfully, and can be enhanced by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limitations on the extent to which the success rates can be improved, and the overall chance of an upgrade item failing cannot be greater than 100%..

The Luck of an item can also affect the success of an upgrade. Each item has an initial success rate of 25% and every item that has Luck increases that chance by an additional five percent.

Note that item upgrades are rendered above the inventory items therefore enchantment glints and other effects can be masked by them. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the item upgrader (similar resource site) CORE client config.
