World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Item upgrades are a way to increase the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade it can increase an item's Mark Level or Rarity, as well as boost other stats.

The process of upgrading equipment in The War Within requires a specified number of Flightstones and Crests, and each item has an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next one by a certain amount.

Item Level

When an item upgrader mod gets upgraded, its basic stats improve in value. This is the sum of an item's upgraded perks (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrades to items can be costly depending on the upgrader you choose and what kind of upgrade you decide to perform. This is due to how many perks have to be replaced to allow the item to get upgraded.

Item level is a commonly used measure of power, and is visible on all tooltips for items. It also serves to limit how much PvP gear players can use since PvP is not available at a lower level. The average level of the item can be found on the character sheet.

When deciding whether to buy or sell equipment, players can compare the level of an item. It's a measure of the item's condition and its quality. The level of an item can be used to evaluate items when looking at the inventory of a seller.

The level of the item can be seen by pressing the ALT key on PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will display the full description of the item, including its value. It can also be found by hovering over an item using the mouse cursor, and then typing /itemlevel into chat.

There are a few theories about how the item level calculation is made. One theory suggests that the item level is calculated by an equation that determines the value of an item's stats actually are. It takes into account the fact that different perks have different worth and gems in sockets add to the overall value of the item. This could result in an item's ilvl calculated, which is typically very close to Blizzards actual level of the item.

It's not the only factor that affects the level of an item. The level of the area where the item dropped can also change its stats. For example, it could increase the item's haste or crit rating. This means that items that drop at higher levels will have higher value than items dropped in lower-level instances.

Item Stats

Item stats are a big element in what determines the value of an item for players. The game utilizes them in various ways to encourage players not to limit themselves to a single weapon and to encourage players to experiment with other weapons. The stats of a base weapon are enhanced by the weapon's stat mods that are in turn boosted by the player's level.

The upgrades to an item can boost its stats. The rarity of an item determines the upgrade cost. A white or grey item for instance, will only be upgraded once and items with rare tiers may be upgraded multiple times with higher costs.

Another method of altering the stats on an item is to use affixes. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player and are available in all shapes and sizes. The affixes can be used to give items additional damage or other special abilities (such as reviving dead or reducing cooling downs) or to make them unique by naming them.

All affixes are currently re-rolled by selecting them in the upgrade window, and pressing the green button. It will cost a set amount in gold and other items. These can be used as upgrade gauges as with other methods of rerolling.

Players can choose to upgrade an item to a specific stat or reroll attaches. The range of stats is determined by the item's level. However each Best item upgrade will contain at least one stat within that range unless they are a unique item or an item that has a God Roll from a raid boss.

Another thing that could change is the option to upgrade equipment without having to roll the attaches, or select which stats to boost. Similar to the base equipment, this will have to be done per item and the item comparison interface wouldn't display all possible stats at once.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player stacks up to increase the chances of item discoveries, the properties spawned on loot drops, and the intensity of these properties. However, it does not, directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives players the chance to upgrade gear earlier in the game. This is particularly beneficial in the early game, since players tend to prioritize the scaling of weapons and defenses over raw damage gains.

In addition to influencing the discovery of items, Luck also increases the chances of success when upgrading items using the Blacksmith. This should not be confused with the Blacksmith's overall chance of upgrading that increases with each level and can be further enhanced by using an anti-material such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.

Armor, shields and weapons have a default Luck value of 40. These items can be enhanced with golden ingots, spined leather, or oak boards (depending on the material of the item) to grant an additional +40 Luck or to increase the luck of an item, up to 140.

Additionally some items, like the Hollow weapon that is infused with hollow can be outfitted to boost the damage of any damage-dealing skill by five percent. These items can be found in the shop or created by using the appropriate ingredients.

Item Failure

Not all upgrades work. However, there are cash shop items that allow players to boost their chance of success or stop them from losing an item in the event that the upgrade is unsuccessful.

The rate of success of an upgrade can be seen in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the likelihood of successful upgrading an item. This can be increased by using Additional Materials or Special materials. The percentage of success can only be increased as much, and the chance that the upgrade will fail cannot be greater than 100%..

The Luck of an item can affect the success of an upgrade. Each item has an average success rate of 25%, and each item that has Luck increases this chance by five percent.

The item upgrade overlays are rendered above items in the inventory. This could cause obscurity to enchantment effects or other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
