The upgrade of an item allows players to boost the gear rating of an item upgrader mod by up 700 points, and then add a bonus. Items can be upgraded by having them in inventory, and then taking them to the kiln.

Certain items are worth upgrading because of their distinctive stats. (For example, a perfectly rolled breakpoint armor used in melee PvP). Other items like weapons aren't changed much after an upgrade, and aren't worth it.

Weapons

Upgrades to weapons can boost their numerical stats, including attack damage, crit probability and PvE/PvP damage. They also have an unchanging bonus that increases their damage per second. Additionally some weapons come with an added bonus that is activated when three or more of the same weapon are present on a unit. This bonus can sometimes exceed the damage that a weapon upgrade can do on its own.

The cost of upgrading a weapon is based on the quality of the weapon and its current level. For instance, an upgrade to a +2 weapon requires two standard Smithing Stones while a+3 requires four. The number of stones required to upgrade a weapon will increase until it needs a higher level of Smithing Stones. At that point it will reset to one.

Upgrades to weapons will also change the stats of the base. This is usually a positive aspect, but it may also have negative consequences. For items that only see use in a particular build (Whistant's shield for FB sorcs, for instance) upgrading them could render them useless unless you have an extremely fortunate roll.

Armor items can be upgraded to boost their effectiveness. In the case of chests or helms, this will increase its base defense while a belt and gloves will increase their strength and dexterity. Armor also has the option of rerolling its Enhanced Defense percentage, which means that it can sometimes roll back to a lower number.

The upgrade template for a weapon will display the new stats it will get when upgraded, along with their relative values. This means that a change from a sword with 8 damage to an 11-attack-damage sword would result in the weapon gaining 3% of attack damage. The 3% does not mean that the weapon will be hit three times less, since it is an absolute number.

Rerolling a weapon is also possible by pressing the green button within the item menu, using the circling arrows. This will reroll the item and change its stats, but it won't reset the weapon's level nor connect to the status of your account.

Armor

A few armor upgrades can make all the difference to your survivability. Certain sets can provide MASSIVE increases in resistance to poison, curses, fire, and magic. This makes it easier to get through difficult terrains. In general, the more defense you can offer your character, the greater health you'll get from each point. Therefore, it is recommended to upgrade your armor.

To upgrade your armor, go to any of the Great Fairy Fountains in the game. There are four Great Fairy Fountains available in the game and in order to unlock each one you have to complete an additional quest that involves the Stable Trotters. After you've completed your main quest, and the corresponding fountains, you can talk to any Great Fairy in order to unlock the armor upgrade menu.

The amount of material needed to upgrade each piece of armor will differ. In general, you're looking at anything from three to five Red Chuchu jellies and 10 Rupees for the initial upgrade, and anywhere between five Rubies and 10 Fire-Breath Horns for each subsequent one. For instance the Champion Leathers can be upgraded to +5 defense, allowing you to keep up with a good-sized group of adversaries in most cold climates, and the Snowquill Headdress can be upgraded all the way to +20 defense, giving you enough protection to survive an entire raid with a few of your friends.

You can't upgrade armor the same as weapons. If you're playing as a Warrior, you should focus on upgrading your armor for physical power or spell power. It's also worthwhile to save your armor upgrades to use for armor you'll still be wearing at the end of the game, such as the Ring of Lightning and Spectral Shield, or the helmet you'll wear for the final boss battle, the Monter Parts Merchant's mask.

You can also get some perks for your armor by presenting the jeweler at Gerudo Town 10 Twinkling Titanite. Generally speaking, you'll want to keep these upgrades for the weapon you'll be using to win the game, like the Longsword, Battleaxe or Warhammer However, it is beneficial to have a few improvements to the helmets and chest armor that let you stealthy battle certain monsters.

Potions

Potions are substances in bottles that, if consumed, give the user a temporary status effect. There are five kinds of potions that have different effects and durations. Certain potions can be upgraded to enhance their level of effectiveness. You can also increase the effects of certain potions by including glowstone dust and redstone.

Potion upgrades require a certain amount of XP. This can be earned by crafting them on a craft table, or by storing them in the Alchemist chest. The upgrade price varies depending on the type of potion used and the item's rarity as well as Mark Level.

To upgrade a potions simply right-click on it in your inventory. Then select "Upgrade" from the menu. Upgrade vendors can be found at the capitals of each zone, and in some instances in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets can be purchased using tokens, gold or fragments of rare trinkets.

Upgrades are a less expensive alternative to buying a brand new trinket. One can upgrade a trinket with as little 12 tokens. The new trinket will come with the same base ilvl of the older one, and include an additional 1% upgrade bonus.

Once the old Trinkets have become no longer usable they can be upgraded. This allows a player to increase their power and value over time. They can be traded among players which makes them a good alternative to gold.

In general players should upgrade their highest priority items first. This means that the Best item upgrade-in slot items for each class are first upgraded before their secondary gear and other pieces of equipment that will not replace anytime soon (such as rings or cloaks). When deciding on which items to upgrade, players should also consider the preferred statistics of their class. For example when Haste and Crit are the two most important stats for a tank, they should be focusing on upgrading their chest, helm shoulders, belt, and helm.

When they are no longer useful, trinkets can be upgraded to a greater level. The new trinket comes with an additional 1% bonus. However, a re-upgrade will cause the trinket to be destroyed in the event that it is not salvaged with the Black Lion Salvage Kit or a higher-tier salvage tool. Upgrades to trinkets can be more expensive than other upgrades, but still less expensive than buying an entirely new trinket.
