The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot vacuum will vacuum and mop your floors with no effort. It will also leave the floors spotless. Its low cost and high-end features (such as dirt detection) are pluses.

Make sure you regularly examine the brushes of your robot for hair tangled and large debris and clean them as required. Some models also self-empty their dust bin on board into a larger bin at the base, which decreases the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive sibling the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we have test. They feature top-of-the-line motors that can generate up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other premium iRobot models (including the top pick) they utilize smart mapping technology to create detailed floor plans that avoid household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. They also feature carpet boost that boosts the robot's performance when it sees an abundance of dirt on the carpet, allowing it clean quickly.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests on bare floors and are especially adept at cleaning dog hair. There are some issues however, which prevent them from being our first option. For one, the Q5's navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology which means it's susceptible to get caught up in shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate tight spaces very well in our tests. Also, it doesn't have an image sensor that lets it see the corners of the room.

It's still a good deal for those whose office or home has a lot of unfinished floors and you want to save money. It's also very quiet and can be used while you're at work, or school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming that is available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle however. If you're required to, the mopping pad can be changed for an awe-inspiring one in a matter of seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that can sweep floors. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it quick to clean and effective at dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also comes with strong suction and self-emptying bin. It's the most efficient robotic hoover for carpets but it isn't as effective as some of its competitors in terms of deep cleaning.

This highly efficient mop and vacuum combo makes use of advanced sensors to dodge obstacles and pet waste and it learns your home's layout over time for more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average compared to similar models.

You can instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when in a room with carpet which prevents cross-contamination. The flex arm can be utilized to reach under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. However, it doesn't have the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During tests, X30 Ultra was the quickest robot vacuum cleaner uk vacuum/mop that could complete the task of cleaning a whole home and had 66 percent of its battery remaining. It also did an excellent job cleaning a range of floors and rooms that had different flooring types, including certain area rugs. Its obstacle detection was superb, and it avoided fake dog turds, socks, shoes and bundles cables.

It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however, it comes with superior suction, a built-in dust bin that automatically empties into its base, and supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature we haven't seen before on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

With an elegant circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba than the competitors' boxes this robot vacuum and mop combo is among the most attractive designs in our tests. The latest model from iRobot is also its smartest. It comes with advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads on its own).

It's also the only robotic vacuum/mop to score an absolute 10 out of 10 in our testing. This is thanks to the combination of high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops.

The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is simple to use. It has a simple mobile app interface that integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This could be a concern in the mornings before work or at night when you're trying to sleep.

It's also somewhat expensive, but it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are similarly capable and more attractive. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that's very capable however it's more expensive and produce more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop (go right here), with many advanced features to help you get rid of your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner, similar to Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically emptys the vacuum's bin and refills the water tank, and washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floorplans and identify obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its top competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards but this wasn't 100% reliable in our tests and was often confused with obstructions or power cords.

The vacuum cleaner has the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to do the job. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vacuum works and alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home in accordance with how dirty they tend to be.

For larger houses it's recommended to choose models that has zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean one particular area of your house using the app or voice controls. A stairway mode is beneficial if you have number of furniture. Also, a recharge and resume function that allows your robot vacuum to take over exactly where it left off is great for busy families.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you would think from its price. It does a stellar job vacuuming, picking up 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with one pad that has an oscillating motion that cleans better than most of the other mop cleaners for robots that vacuum and mop we've tried. And it's highly self-sufficient with a full-featured application and an auto-emptying, washable base.

The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through a mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you set on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or to set up a spot-clean. It can also be used to it to prioritize your dirtiest areas for greater efficiency. The app has a range of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, which means it can get to corners and underneath furniture more easily. It also has strong 8,000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for pet hair. It also has the ability to set up a spot cleaning that scours a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker, cheaper alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras resemble cute eyes. It does a great job vacuuming, but it's more likely to get caught in low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot hoover and mop vacuums that we've examined. It also has a less user-friendly app and a small base station that isn't able to double as an emptying bin.
