Upgrades boost the value of certain numeric stats on armor, weapons and rings. They also increase bonuses such as crit chance and PvE damage.

For example a weapon that has the upgrade template ending in % will suffer an attack damage of 3% each time it is upgraded (relative to its previous value).

The cost of upgrading an item increases as it reaches the item's current level. The cost increases as the item's level rises.

Components

Upgrade components can be added to trinkets, armor, and weapons in order to give them a stat boost or to add an additional effect. These can be obtained through crafting, purchasing from vendors, trading or looting. Certain upgrades come with special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components are only available to equipment with a slot. The item must be at least upgraded to a blue level before the component can be used. Upgrade components, unlike other mods, can only be applied only once. They cannot be replaced or applied multiple times. Infusions and enrichments are a particular kind of upgrade component that is that is used to upgrade non-amulet ascended or legendary equipment and some of the back items that are not ascending. Enrichments and Infusions can be obtained by salvaging equipment from the ascended state or completing a mission in the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.

An upgrade could include a suffix or prefix, modifying the name of the equipment with which it is used (for examplethe 'Canthan Armor Insignia" becomes Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Some upgrades increase the Mark Level or Rarity of an item, which lets players create stronger versions with fewer Upgrade crystals than they would need to reach the same level using standard methods.

A 'boost' upgrade can alter the attack or defence attributes of an armored weapon or. These upgrades are available to be made from the Portative Forging Station once the player has completed the cutscene and defeats the Crazed Mechanic. These upgrades can be obtained by purchasing them from the cash shop, or by obtaining them from enemies when upgrading other equipment.

Each upgrade increases the chance that a higher tier version of the item will be available during the next reset. This gives the player some incentive to keep upgrading their gear even if they're uncertain of how much it will increase after a future reset.

The process of upgrading an item can be expensive and it is likely that the item will eventually become obsolete or even break if the upgrade fails. Upgrade Crystals and assist powder are also destroyed when an upgrade fails. Cash shop items can be used to minimize or eliminate the possibility of failure. Certain upgrades also provide the player a bonus if they are reinserted.

Glyphs

Glyphs are upgrade elements that can be placed in special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs increase the power of nodes within a radius, including any existing attaches. Glyphs are upgraded in many ways. We recommend upgrading them as fast as you can to level 15.

In the endgame you'll often discover that the most effective way to upgrade your gear is by placing Glyphs. They are the only upgrade components that can be upgraded to level 15 and offer a significant boost to your power on the Paragon Board.

The majority of upgrades in the game can be replaced, but Glyphs are the only upgrade component that can be removed and replaced without restriction. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and replaced with a Black Lion Salvage Kit.

Each Glyph has a certain range of values it can improve a stat by. The value is shown when you select the Glyph in your inventory. You can replace it with a Glyph of the same rank or a higher rank, which will increase the value of the glyph.

Glyphs are available in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of an Gem Store bundle or purchase, with certain unlimited-use tools, and during Faction Crypt Raids. Each Faction Crypt has the chance of dropping one of the numerous Glyphs as well as some rare Glyphs that can be found in the form of drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.

Every upgradeable item is assigned an amount that determines the final stats. Upgraded items can be leveled up to a maximum of ilvl 385. Each level of an item requires a different number of components to reach and the costs for upgrading increase as the item is upgraded.

Some upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient is obtained by completing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes are available in the upgrade tab of a crafting table or obtained from NPCs. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed results in a certain amount of Technology points. These points can be used to upgrade the item, and once enough points have been earned, the upgrade will be claimed and the additional bonuses will be added to the item.

When the player upgrades an item, the base item upgrader mod is replaced with a new item of the same type. The same armor will receive a weapon or a shield when upgraded. The new item comes with its own set bonus. This could be a drawback in that the item could increase in price even if you do not need it.

If the player has enough tokens they can roll item upgrades. The item will be replaced with the same item, but it is based on a level 1 base and completely different bonuses. This can be beneficial but it should not be used frequently as it could waste resources.

Requirements

The failure rate increases when you exceed the maximum number. When an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied from the lowest to the highest. This means that the weapon that is upgraded gains a crit chance increase it will be applied prior to any damage from attacks increases. The amount of resources required to upgrade an item is dependent on its rarity score and upgrade slot count. The upgrade cost for non-premium items is equal to the base value of the upgrade.
