Path of Exile Item Upgrading

Item upgrading allows players to improve their weapons and equipment with new affixes that boost its base stats or providing additional benefits. To upgrade an item, the player needs to have it in their inventory as well as access to the kiln.

Typically items with weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a stronger base while items with strong bases such as eth titans aren't affected much in their stats after being upgraded.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components can be used to upgrade trinkets, weapons, armor and gathering tools, giving an attribute bonus or extra impact when the equipment is used. They can be purchased from vendors, or found as loot gathered by enemies or gotten from missions and chests. Certain upgrades can also be equipped with special cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a specific level to upgrade.

To upgrade the quality of a weapon, armor or other item in the game, players will have to select it and click the Upgrade button in the toolbar. This will show on the right-hand side of the screen a preview showing the expected upgrade stats and the components or materials required for the upgrade.

There are three kinds: universal upgrades (which include gems) Prefix upgrades and suffix upgrade components. Universal upgrades, such as gems, can be put on any type of equipment. They provide a smaller bonus than upgrade components that are subject to a type limitation. Infusions are only placed in gear that is ascended and legendary equipment are similar to jewels but provide larger bonuses and cannot be placed in any other type of equipment. Suffix upgrades are able to be placed in gathering tools, add their names to the end of the name of the item they are connected to, for example adding an Glyph to a Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor will change it to a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.

In the instance of upgrades for gathering tools If a player replaces one glyph with a different one, the old glyph will be returned to the inventory. However, replacing any other upgrade component can destroy it, with the exception of the inscriptions that can be swapped.

Leveling

The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some important variations from the previous versions. Gear is now divided into tracks and items can only be upgraded a set number of times before being "leveled out." The costs for upgrading increase with each level, but the materials required do not. This allows players to focus their efforts on a select few items and maximize the effect of these items rather than dispersing upgrade costs across multiple pieces.

If an item is completed and is leveled out, it will be capable of receiving an upgrade set of components, and a boost in the chance that the upgrade will succeed. This bonus is known as the Artisan's Energy and it is reset to 0 on failure or increases when the upgrade succeeds.

Once a piece is upgraded to its maximum level, it can receive the affixes needed to enhance its abilities. The amount of affixes available is determined by the item's kind. For example the rare or exclusive weapon with a normal base will only have two affixes available for it, whereas legendary armors can have up to eight affixes for it.

Each upgrade will require the use of a certain amount of Flightstones and crests based on the current level of the item and the item upgrades slot it's in. Weapons typically require more Flightstones than other equipment.

If an item is not able to reach its max level, the NPC will give players the option to transfer it to a different character and re-infuse it with an upgrade set that is different. This process can take up to two hours and cost the same amount of material. However it has a lower rate of success.

Engineers may employ a level to compare the height of the building against an established point, like the benchmark. This method is known as a "level loop." It involves taking readings with the backsight rod and level and then turning the level to make the foresight rod reading. This method guarantees that the buildings are constructed with an extremely high level of accuracy and safety.

Rerolling

Rerolling refers to the process of changing the upgrade components of an item. It is a crucial element of the game that can increase the strength, damage or other characteristics. You can do this via the menu for items or by pressing the Reroll button whenever you upgrade an item upgrader kit. Rerolling is costly and should only be done in rare cases.

Reroll tokens are obtained by recycling upgraded items. These tokens can be used to upgrade either the original item or a comparable item. Recyclable items come with a gauge that shows the degree of upgrade. The cost and rarity of upgrading an item will determine the amount of level that has been filled.

Prior to this, some upgrades were given priority affixes which made them more accessible for players to roll. This meant that you'd receive the most crucial stats to your build more frequently than others. These included things like the armor's total armor, thorns and duration reduction statistics that were controlled or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.

This was changed with the recent patch. Priority affixes were removed, and all upgrades have the same chance of rolling for each stat. This could be a positive or bad thing depending on your requirements and expectations from your equipment.

Each upgraded item can also be equipped with a special bonus that increases the Best item upgrader's power by a set percentage or flat value. These bonuses are added to standard affixes. The more you improve an item, the greater your chance of getting an exclusive bonus.

The game also includes various sets that offer a set-based bonus when three or more upgraded items from the same set are installed on a unit. This is a great method of giving the character more power without spending a lot of money.

Many players have the habit of rerolling their weapons and gear particularly in the beginning stages. Rerolling is a way to get a more powerful character faster, which allows you to progress in the game and reach higher tiers.

Sets

Sets are collections that can be set up differently. They could be of various dimensions, have no elements, or only contain a single element. They can be utilized to organize data or to sort information. They are also useful in analysing patterns. Sets can be categorized in many ways, such as by size and shape.

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom provides a wide range of upgradeable set items. Certain items are worth upgrading, others aren't. Upgrades are worthwhile for armor sets with high defense and set bonuses. Weapon upgrades are not as effective in improving stats as their purple counterparts. This makes them less appealing to upgrade if you have lots of armor or weapons already.

Some set items are upgraded to take advantage of their unique procs which can be useful in certain builds. This is evident in Aldur's Advance Boots and Guillaume's Face. Both were upgraded from Exceptional Winged Helm and Exceptional Mirrored Boots respectively, increasing their defense by 217 to 321 (Strength requirement and Level requirement were increased as well).

Upgrades can also be made to bring certain items up to parity with the different tiers. The Immortal King Set, for example, has a wide range of levels, ranging from 29 to 75. Upgrading lower-level set items can increase their defense and increase their competitiveness in terms of damage.

To see if an item is worth upgrading, players can click the Upgrade button in the character screen. It will show the item's characteristics, as well as the required items to upgrade it. For instance, the No-mouth Face will require 1.1K Scrap Materials, 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards to upgrade. Players can also verify the upgrade requirements for specific items at the Cyrodiil Golden vendor or Leaderboard.

In general generally speaking, jewelry and weapons offer better trade value when fully upgraded than armor. Especially for weapons that have damage glyphs that are spell-like or weapon-related, upgrading them to gold is recommended as it will give a substantial increase in their power. This will also increase the defense of armor that has a newer appearance.
