What You Should Be Focusing On Improving Robot Hoover
The Best Robot Hoover
The best robot hoover can clean and mop without requiring your attention, and leaves your floors spotless. Its low cost and top-of-the-line features (such as dirt detectors) are positives.
Make sure to check your robot's brushes frequently for tangled debris and hair. Wash them if needed. Some models will automatically empty their onboard dust bin into a larger one at the base, which reduces the amount of fine dust released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've tested. They are equipped with top-of-the-line motors which can produce up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. As with other top iRobot models (including the top choice) they utilize smart mapping technology to create precise floor plans and eliminate household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. The robots also feature a feature called Carpet Boost that boosts its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests of floors with no carpet, and they are particularly adept in cleaning hair from dogs. However, they have several flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. For one, the Q5's navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance which means it's susceptible to getting hung up on shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate tightly packed rooms very well in our tests. It doesn't also come with a camera to look around corners.
However, it's a good robot vacuum choice to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on a iRobot Roomba and you have a mostly bare-floor home or office. It's also very quiet and works when you're at work or at school. The only thing it lacks that you won't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective at mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stay on very well and can't handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has an auto-emptying dock, however. And, if you have to, you can swap the mopping pad to a dry one in just a few seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it quick to clean and efficient at taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It also comes with self-emptying dustbins, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, although it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.
This high-performing mop and vacuum combo uses advanced sensor technology to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste and it learns the layout of your home over time to provide more efficient cleaning. The app lets you modify zones and alter the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average in comparison to similar models.
If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can tell it to pull back and extend its mop. This can help avoid cross contamination. Its flex arm is perfect to get under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During tests, X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete the task of cleaning a whole home with just 66 percent of its battery remaining. It did a great cleaning job on different rooms and floors with various flooring types, including certain area rug. Its obstacle detection was superb, and it avoided fake dog turds, socks, shoes and bundles of cables.
It's a bit more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however, it comes with superior suction, a built-in dust bin that automatically emptys into its base, and also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after it vacuums it, something hasn't been seen in other robot vacuum cleaner uk vacuum/mop combinations.
3. iRobot Roomba X40
The robot vacuum cleaners best vacuum and mop combination features a sleek, circular design that appears more like the regular Roomba model than the boxy models of the rivals. It's one of our most attractive looking robot vacuums. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also its smartest. It comes with advanced features such as Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads autonomously).
It's the only robot vacuum/mop that has an exemplary 10/10 in our testing, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, which include a camera, structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.
The X40 as with other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It has a simple mobile app interface that integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that it's an eerily noisy device that could be an issue if you use it in the morning before work or in the evening as you try to sleep.
It's also a bit expensive but not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally impressive and attractive. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that is very efficient, but it will cost you more and produce more noise.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a variety of sophisticated features that will let you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device that is similar to Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically emptys the vacuum's bin and fills up the water tank, and cleans and dry the mop pads.
The smart robot uses the combination of LIDAR and structured light to create floor plans and identify obstacles, and navigates more effectively than some of its premium competitors. It also has a camera mounted on the front to detect hazards in real-time but this was not 100% foolproof during our tests and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.
Its vacuum has a high suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vacuum works and alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home in accordance with the amount of dirt they tend to be.
For larger houses it's recommended to choose models with spot or zone cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean a specific area of your home using the app or via voice commands. If you have lots of furniture, a stair-mode is also a good option. For families that are busy recharge functions and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off could be very useful.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is more intelligent than the price suggests. It does a stellar job vacuuming, picking up 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with one pad that has a reciprocating motion that cleans better than most of the other robot mop cleaners we've examined. It's also self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and an auto-emptying, washable base.
The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through a mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, or to create a spot-clean. It can also be used to it to prioritize your dirtiest areas for better performance. The app also grants access to a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.
It is also able to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a strong 8000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for pet hair. It also has the ability to create a spot-clean that scours a specific area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD offers a sleeker more affordable alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are shaped like adorable eyes. It is great at vacuuming, but it is more likely to get stuck on low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuums we have examined. It also has an app that's not as intuitive and has a tiny base station that does not double as a bin to empty.
