World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Item upgrades can be used to improve the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade, it may raise an Best item upgrader's Mark level or Rarity, and also boost other stats.

Upgrades to equipment in The War Within requires a set number of Flightstones and Crests and each item has an upgrade item track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the following one by a set amount.

Item Level

The value of an item's basic stats increases when it is upgraded. The value is the sum of all of an item's upgraded perks (attack magic attack and defense). The cost of upgrading items can be high depending on the upgrader and what kind of upgrade you decide to make. This is due to the sheer number of perks that have to be altered to upgrade an item.

Item level is a popular measurement of power and can be seen on all item tooltips. It also serves to determine a gating condition when waiting to queue for dungeons and scenarios and raids, and to limit the amount of PvP gear a player can wear (since PvP is limited to a lower level). The average level of the item is listed on the character sheet.

When deciding to purchase or sell gear players can evaluate the level of an item. It's a sign of the item's condition and its quality. Comparing items from a vendor's stock can be done by using the item's level.

The item level can be seen by pressing the ALT key on your PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will show the item's full description, including the ilvl. It is also accessible by hovering over an item using the mouse cursor, and then entering /itemlevel into chat.

There are many theories about how the item level is calculated. One theory is that the level is a numerical value derived from a formula that calculates how much an item's stats are worth. It takes into account the fact that different perks have different worth and that gems in sockets increase the value of the item overall. This can result in an item's ilvl which is calculated and is usually very close to Blizzards actual level of the item.

This is not the only thing that affects the level of an item. The location of where the item was dropped can alter its stats. For example it can add a level to the item's haste or crit score. This means that items that drop at higher levels will have higher ilvl than those from lower-level instances.

Item Stats

Stats on an item are a significant part of what makes or breaks an item for players. The game uses them in various ways to encourage players not to limit themselves to one weapon and to motivate players to experiment with other weapons. The base stats on a weapon are enhanced by the weapon's stat modification that are in turn boosted by the player's level.

The upgrades to an item can boost its stats. The cost of upgrades is determined by the rarity of the item. For example, a grey or white item can only be upgraded once, whereas items with rare tiers will be upgraded several times, at higher costs.

Another method to alter the stats on an item is through affixes. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player and they come in all sizes and shapes. The affixes are used to give items extra damage, special abilities (such as reviving dead or reducing cooling downs), or to distinguish them by putting a name on them.

All affixes can be re-rolled at the moment by selecting them in the upgrade window pressing the green button. This will cost a certain amount of gold and other items. They can also be used as upgrade gauges, similar to other methods of rerolling.

In addition to Rerolling affixes and rerolls, players can also choose which stats to keep on an item when it is upgraded. The possible stat ranges of an item are based on the level of the item, but every item is guaranteed to have at minimum one stat within the range, unless it is an exclusive item or the result of a God roll from a boss in a raid.

This is another thing that could be altered by adding the option to upgrade the equipment without rerolling the affixes or deciding which stats to enhance. But, like base equipment, this would need to be carried out on a per-item basis, and the interface for comparing items will not show all the stats that could be that were gained or lost at the same time.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player boosts the probability of obtaining items, the properties that are created by loot and the intensity of these properties. However, it doesn't directly affect damage or ability to upgrade items. It gives the player the chance to upgrade equipment earlier in the game. This is especially useful for early game runs, because players tend to put defenses and weapon scaling over raw damage gains.

In addition to influencing the discovery of items, Luck also increases the chance of success when upgrading items with the Blacksmith. This should not be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade probability that increases with each level and can be further enhanced by using an anti-material, such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.

Armor, shields and weapons can be made or spawn by using the Luck property, which has the default value of 40. These items can then be enhanced by golden ingots, spined leather, or oak boards (depending on the material of the item) to give +40 Luck or to increase the Luck of an item up to 140.

Certain items, like the Hollow-infused weapon can also be outfitted to increase the damage dealt by any ability that is able to deal damage by 5percent. These items are available in the shop or created using the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Not all upgrades are successful. However, there are some cash shop items that allow players to increase their chance of success or stop them from losing an item if the upgrade fails.

When you upgrade an item the success rate is shown in the Honing UI. The percentage is the probability of successfully upgrading an item. This can be increased with Additional Materials or Special materials. There are limitations to how much success rates can be increased and the probability of an upgrade failing can't exceed 100%.

The success of an item upgrades is also influenced by the luck of the item upgrade. Each item has an initial success rate of 25% and every item that has Luck increases the chance of success by an additional 5%.

The upgrade overlays for items are rendered above the items in the inventory. This could block enchantment effects as well as other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item upgrader [perfectworld.wiki] CORE client config.
