World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Item upgrades can be used to boost the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade you choose, it can boost an item's Rarity or Mark Level and increase other stats.

Upgrades to equipment in The War Within requires a certain number of Flightstones and Crests, and each item comes with an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next one by a specific amount.

Item Level

The value of an item's base stats increase when it is upgraded. This is the sum of all of its leveled up advantages (attack magic attack, attack defense). Upgrades can be expensive, depending on the person you hire and what you do. This is due to the fact that many perks must be replaced to allow the item to be upgraded.

The level of an item is a commonly used measure of power, and can be seen on all tooltips for items. It is also used as a gating requirement while waiting for dungeons, scenarios and raids, and to limit the amount of PvP gear that a player can wear (since PvP is restricted to the lower levels). The average level of the item can be found in the character sheet.

Using the item upgrader mod level will allow players to compare the potency of gear when they decide to buy or sell. It's a measure of the damage and quality. The item level can also be used to compare items when examining a vendor's inventory.

The item level can be viewed by pressing the ALT key on a PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will display the item's full description, including ilvl. It can also be found by hovering over an item upgrader mod using the mouse cursor and typing /itemlevel in chat.

There are a variety of theories on the method by which the level of an item is determined. One theory suggests that the item level is calculated by an equation that determines the value of an item's stats actually are. It takes into consideration that different advantages are valued differently and that gems found in sockets boost the value of the item. This can lead to a calculated item's ilvl that is often very close to Blizzards actual item level.

However, this isn't the only factor which can affect an item's ilvl as the level of the region the item was dropped in could change the value of its stats, for example by adding a level to its haste or crit rating. This means that items that drop at higher levels will have more the ilvl than items from lower level instances.

Item Stats

The stats of an item are a major element in what makes or breaks an item for players. The game makes use of them in various ways to encourage players not to limit themselves to a single weapon and to motivate them to try out other weapons. The base stats of a weapon are boosted by the weapon's stat modification, which are themselves boosted by the player's level.

Upgrades to an item may increase its stats. The rarity of an item upgrader kit determines its cost of upgrading. A white or grey item, for example, will only be upgraded one time however, items that has rare tiers can be upgraded several times at higher costs.

Affixes are a different method to change an item's stats. They are stat boosters that can be added by the player to an item. Affixes can be used to give the item extra damage, or give a specific capability to the item (such as reviving the dead or cutting down cooldowns) or make the item unique by adding a special name to the item.

All affixes can be being re-rolled right now by selecting them in the upgrade menu and pressing the green button. It will cost a set amount of gold and other items. They can also be used as upgrade gauges just like the other rerolling methods.

In addition to the possibility of rerolling affixes, players may select which stats to keep on an item after it is upgraded. The range of stats determined by the item's level. However every item will include at least one stat in the same range, unless it's a unique item, or an item that has a God Roll from a raid boss.

Another thing that could be changed is the possibility of upgrading equipment without having to reroll the affixes, or choose which stats to boost. But as with base equipment, this would need to be done on a per-item basis and the item compare interface would not display all the possible stats gained or lost at once.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player increases the chance of finding items and the properties that are created by loot and the intensity of these properties. It does not, however directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It simply gives players a chance to acquire better equipment in earlier waves and is thus more beneficial in early game runs than in later ones, because most players value higher weapon scaling and defenses over the raw damage gain.

Luck can also increase the chance of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This should not be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade probability that increases with each level and can be further enhanced by using an anti-material, such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.

Armor, shields and weapons have the default Luck value of 40. These items can be upgraded with golden ingots, spined leather, or oak boards (depending on the item's material type) to grant a further +40 Luck, or to increase the luck of an item, up to 140.

Certain items, like the weapon that is infused with hollow can also be outfitted to increase the damage of any ability that causes damage by five percent. These items are available in the shop or crafted with the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Upgrades to items can be costly and not every upgrade will be successful. However, there are cash shop items that allow players to boost their chance of success or stop them from losing an item in the event that the upgrade fails.

The rate of success of an upgrade is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the likelihood of successfully upgrading the item. This can be increased by using Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limitations on the extent to which the success rates can be improved, and the overall chance of an upgrade failing can't be greater than 100%..

The Luck of an item may influence the success of an upgrade. All items have an initial success rate of 25% and every item that has Luck increases that chance by an additional 5%.

The item upgrade overlays are rendered above items in the inventory. This could obscure enchantment effects and other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade item overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
