10 Things We We Hate About Item Upgrading

World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades can boost the value of weapons, armors and rings. They also boost extra bonuses such as damage from PvE and crit chance.

If the weapon's upgrade items template ends in %, it will be able to gain 3percent of its previous damage every time it's upgraded.

The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases as the item's level rises.

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be slotted into weapons, armor, and trinkets to give an extra stat boost or impact while they're being used. These can be obtained by making crafts, buying from vendors, trading with other players, or looting. Some upgrades have special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be inserted into any equipment with a slot for them. The item must be at the very least upgraded to blue level for a component to be used. Like other mods, upgrade components can only be used once and cannot be applied multiple times or replaced with new upgrades. Infusions and Enrichments are a type of upgrade component that is used to upgrade non-amulet legendary or ascending equipment, as in some items that aren't ascended. Infusions and enrichments can be recovered by salvaging gear from the ascended, or completing an elite task in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.

An upgrade may be prefixed or a suffix changing the name of the item to the upgrade (for instancethe "Canthan Armor Insignia is changed to Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades can increase the Mark Rarity or Level of an item, which lets players create stronger versions with less upgrade crystals than they require to reach the same level with normal methods.

A 'boost' upgrade can change the attack or defence attributes of a weapon, or armor. After the player has completed the cutscene and defeated the Crazed Mechanist, these upgrades can be made at the Portative Forging Station. These upgrades can be purchased by purchasing them in the cash shop or obtaining them from enemies when upgrading other equipment.

Each upgrade increases the chance that a better-quality version of the item will be dropped in the next reset. This gives the player some incentive to continue upgrading their gear even if they're not sure of how much it will improve following a subsequent reset.

If a boost upgrade is successful or not, the process can be expensive, and there is a substantial possibility that the item will become obsolete or even break if it fails. A unsuccessful upgrade could cause the destruction of Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder, as well as the upgraded item. This is alleviated by the availability cash shop items that double or even eliminate the chances of failure, and some upgrades that offer an additional benefit when they are inserted into an item.

Glyphs

Glyphs are upgrade components which can be put in special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs boost the power of nodes within a radius, which includes any existing attaches. Glyphs can be upgraded in a variety of ways. We recommend upgrading them as quickly as possible to level 15.

You'll often see in the endgame that putting Glyphs is a great method to upgrade your equipment. They are the only upgrade component that can be upgraded to level 15 and provide a significant boost to your power on the Paragon Board.

Most of the upgrades in the game can be replaced but Glyphs are the only upgrade component that can be removed and re-placed without any restrictions. The only exception is legendary equipment, which requires a Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and re-place.

The value of each Glyph is displayed when you select it in your inventory. You can replace it with an Glyph that is of the same or higher rank to increase the value of the Glyph.

Glyphs can be found in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of a Gem Store bundle or purchase, with certain unlimited-use tools and also during Faction Crypt Raids. Each Faction Crypt can drop one of these Glyphs. There are also some rare glyphs you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.

Once you have the desired Glyphs You will need to place them on your gear. Each Glyph unlocks a special bonus which will boost a specific set of stat nodes within a radius around the Glyph. Depending on the Glyph the bonus will be +40 to one of your primary stats or +25 to two of your secondary stats.

Glyphs will boost all nodes connected to them, so it is Best item upgrader to put Glyphs in strategic spots on the Graph. This will increase the impact. For instance that a Druid should try to place their Glyphs near their primary damage nodes, however, you may also want to consider placing them near critical damage nodes too.

Leveling

The item upgrade system allows players to boost the effectiveness of certain items by introducing upgraded components. This is commonly known as "upping". Each upgradeable item comes with a level that determines its final upgraded stats. Upgraded items can be leveled up to a maximum level of 385. Each level of an item requires different components, and upgrade costs increase with each level.

Certain upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient is obtained by finishing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be bought from NPCs, or on the upgrade tab of a crafting table. Each Upgrade Recipe completed will result in a certain amount of Technology points. These points can be used to level the item. Once enough points are earned, the upgrade will be claimed and the additional bonuses will be added to the item.

When a player upgrades an item it is replaced with a different item of the same kind. The same armor will be upgraded to an weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item will also have a unique bonus. This could be a drawback since the item may be more expensive even if you don't need it.

Item upgrades can sometimes be rerolled, provided that the player has enough tokens to do so. The item will be replaced with the same item, but it has a level 1 basis and completely different bonuses. This is useful for some items, but it shouldn't be repeated often, as it can use up lots of resources.

Certain upgrades can increase their value and allow players to modify their equipment. One example is Dolphin's Gift, which gives an advantage when a player repeatedly enters and exits water (or is able to swim like dolphins). It can be upgraded multiple times, each time increasing the maximum roll by 10 points. This item is highly useful in PvP. A well-rolled version could be worth 50 times the value of the unupgraded counterpart.

Requirements

The upgrade of items allows players to upgrade the quality of their equippable gear--armor, weapons and trinkets over ilvl 385 by presenting the appropriate items and currency to an item upgrader NPC. The upgrade of armor set pieces will also increase the base defense of that piece, while upgrading weapon equipment will increase the damage base as well as the required strength and dexterity to match the requirements of the upgraded equipment.

All items can be upgraded a maximum of five times, except for hero gear, which can have eight upgrades. Every time you upgrade a piece of equipment, it has a chance of failing. The failure rate increases as you go over the maximum number. Failures will result in the item reverting to its original state and the player having to purchase more resources than if they had stopped upgrading after the maximum number.

If an item isn't upgraded the experience bar in its growth bar will be reset to zero. The item upgrader will also lose any bonuses it earned like crit chance attack damage, additional effects (such as a higher healing rate over time, or reloading speed). However, the user can still continue to use the weapon or armor following the failure.

When an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied from the lowest to highest. This means that the weapon that is upgraded receives a crit chance boost that it will be applied before any attack damage increases. A new attribute called Slots has been added to the item's definition and the value is calculated every time an upgrade is applied.

The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item is based on its rarity rating and upgrade slot count. The cost for upgrading non-premium products is equal to the base value of the upgrade--for instance, a standard equipment item may have five upgrades with a cost of 25600 Technology Points 4x Quality Improvement Opportunity. Hero grade items have lower costs per upgrade.

Premium items may have different upgrade requirements from regular gear. For instance they might require less sowels, however they may require more minerals and orons. Whatever the case, players will have to visit the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they want to upgrade. In addition to the upgrade costs listed above, each upgrade requires a different amount of the upgrade ingredients.
