Path of Exile Item Upgrading

In Path of Exile, item upgrading is among the most effective ways to upgrade your gear without relying upon large-ticket drops or trade. This article will show you how to upgrade your items efficiently.

Upgrades in equipment can add an additional bonus to the item's base stats. The bonus is depending on the rarity and quality of the upgrade component.

Components

Upgrade components make your armour and weapons better. You can find them through destroying enemies, buying them from karma vendors or finding them in the form of item-spheres. They can also be rescued from equipment that has them or by using the highest-quality salvage kits such as the Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool. Upgrade components aren't destroyed when you remove them from the item.

Upgrade components are typically used to improve an item but they can also be used for other purposes. They can be stacked to increase the quality of an item that can be upgraded or they can be used to enhance the amount of experience gained from upgrading an existing weapon or piece of gear. They can be made for extra bonuses. A crafted glyph can increase the chance of upgrading its target, and an upgrade boosts the attack or defense attributes of weapons.

You can connect an upgrade template to an item by selecting it from the edition GUI. This will show the upgrade components that the item can be upgraded. You can also use the workbench to selecting an upgrade template. In either instance the item will be upgraded once enough upgrade components are collected.

Each component is assigned an experience multiplier. This determines how much experience an item gains when upgraded using the component. For instance, organic components have a more experience multipliers than mechanical ones. It is therefore best to upgrade with organic components until you reach the experience multiplier for the next rank of weapon or gear, then change to mechanical upgrades.

Each item has a maximum upgrade number that can be received. The number of upgrades is determined by its upgradeable rank and the type of upgrade available to the upgradeable item. The highest upgrade possible is a weapon of 10th level. The most commonly used upgrade is a tier 6 gun and an armor upgrade of tier 5.

Sets

A set is a collection of items that share bonuses. Each item can be upgraded at least once. The upgrade boosts the bonuses that are guaranteed. The first time you upgrade an item, its primary stat will be +1. On subsequent upgrades, the primary stats will be increased even more (for instance, +1 for 12+/13+/14+) and each time an item is upgraded one of its stats will increase randomly.

Upgrades can also increase the damage base of a weapon. This can be crucial for certain types of weapons. However, weapons can't be upgraded to have a greater defense level than their base. It is possible to increase value of certain sets and unique items by upgrading them, however they're not always superior to a high-level Runeword.

If the item upgrade you're upgrading has a guarantee bonus, it can be rerolled only once and its guarantee will be reset to zero. The same amount of power dies are used to reroll an item, just as it would be to increase its level. However the new item upgrade comes with different bonuses. The NPC [ArmorBoboko Boboko can upgrade your armor in Central Flarine. To upgrade an item you will need the appropriate amount Minerals and Erons and a power dice of each kind. They can be purchased with Gold at the crafting table, or in the Ultra Collection. The NPC will also provide a special reward for each completed tier of the upgrade process. This reward can be rerolled once and the reroll will be made using the same materials as the original item.

Rerolling

A player can play rerolling any item that they acquire during the game, provided they have enough reroll tokens. When an upgraded item gets to be rerolled, it will be exchanged for the version at a level 1 of the same item in another set. Reroll tokens are available in the store for a small sum of in-game currency. They cannot be refunded. The new item will offer the same bonuses as the original, but the statistics will also differ.

In addition to rerolling items, players can also alter the identity of any equipment by interacting with an upgrader NPC. This will change the identification from a weapon to an armor or vice versa. The base requirements and stats will remain the same. The change is permanent and will affect all characters who are wearing the gear.

Players can also increase the level of their item on any equipped device by obtaining upgrade components and interacting with the NPC who upgrades the item upgrades. This will cost a set number of crests and Valorstones according to the upgrade track and the item type. Each step will add an additional 5% of damage to weapons.

The upgrade of an item can make it more powerful however it can also lower its quality. Therefore, it is important to balance the two. Some items may not be worth upgrading however, others will need to be upgraded to maximize their potential. A player might want to upgrade their breakpoint armor using an interesting modifier (% block chance or FHR) in order to see what else it can become.

The primary reason people are able to reroll in Genshin Impact, or in any gacha-based game is because they're trying to obtain a particular weapon or character that they can't otherwise obtain. These items are time-consuming and costly to obtain and the RNG doesn't always play nice. The only options left are to invest real money or grind lots. Rerolling is extremely popular in Genshin Impact.

Leveling

When upgrading an item you can increase the level of the weapon or armor. However, this feature is absolutely nothing in the current game. I believe it was intended to be a way to give some value to rare items, but as equipment generally drops quickly and can only be upgraded once you've reached a certain level it is likely that you will replace the item before it gets old enough. It's also not worth it to upgrade items with gem sockets because the power of the gem will be greater than the increased ilvl that comes with the upgrade.

You will see a small box when you click the upgrade option for an item. It will display the template of the item, the crest, and the Valorstone cost to raise the level of the item. The costs will vary between the armor and weapons and the latter typically costing more than the latter. The upgrade template outlines the stats to be added to an upgraded item, and also the current ilvl.

The crest and Valorstone costs are calculated according to the current ilvl of the item and the upgrade template. The ilvl is also reduced by the upgrade template's reduction percentage for lvl. For instance the weapon that has an increase of 8% will reduce its count by 8-8 percent.

The item will receive upgrades to other stats like critical strike damage, PvE damages and block, parry and dodge rating, in addition to the base level. These increases are also based off the upgrade template.

In the upgrade template you can determine the amount of damage or defense that the item will receive after being leveled up. This is displayed below the cost and the upgrade percentages. Apart from the practice equipment, all other armor and weapons gain the same stats when they are upgraded. The value of these stats will be dictated by the market, with a perfectly rolled perfect version of a weapon or piece of armor is able to command more in trade value than unupp'd versions. This is also true for other pieces of armor, like tiaras and circlets.
