WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give you boosts in certain stats. Each upgrade increases item level by +3. A random additional substat is also boosted alongside each upgrade.

Upgraded gear generally sees higher trade value regardless of whether it has low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or very high stat variation (like Eth titan weapons). Upgrades aren't as useful for those with lower requirements because of the requirement to roll an exact version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by offering the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapons. However, the item level upgrade used to upgrade will remain in use for a long time and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enhancements.

The upgrader is located in all major cities, and is accessible anytime to upgrade your gear. To ensure that your equipment is up-to-date, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader every couple of weeks.

Upgrades will cost more, based on the level of the item, however, they are always less expensive than purchasing new equipment. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest up to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. A similar item will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to purchase weapon, armor, tool, and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players from item upgrader NPCs in exchange for various currencies, and may also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be applied to any tool, weapon or armor. The button will display the preview of an item's next level of upgrade, when there are enough materials.

The upgrade cost depends on the slot of the item level upgrade (just click the following document) and current item level as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than gloves or bracers, for example. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a number of crests, with certain upgrades having a discount to lower the cost of Flightstones or crests used. Once an item is upgraded to a certain level, it can be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lesser amount of the two currencies.

Item upgraders can be found in many places, including the main island and some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount and a chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. The discount on upgrades increases as more items are upgraded. It can also be increased by having players complete certain achievements or complete quests.

Contrary to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II there is no upgrader for items available at the start of Icewind Dale. The NPCs who are able to facilitate upgrades are only available via a variety of ways. This is both a positive and a disadvantage.

In Season 3, a number of new features have been added to the upgrade system. Once a player obtains an upgrade to a particular level for an item in an armor slot, upgrading further items to that same item level will be less expensive, even when they are part of another set of gear.

The discount applies to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is cut too, but it is only available when certain milestones have been reached.

Crests

When upgrading equipment in WoW, players have a few options. Flightstones are a currency that is available to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more special and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an integral part of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.

The first thing to remember is that crests are only available for equipment that is that is of a particular rank. Each rank comes with distinct upgrade paths. The most basic and straightforward upgrade process costs just 15 crests while the most complex may require as many as 20 crests, based on the type of gear that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by completing content of the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and performing outdoor activities for lower-tier gear, dungeons or raids of all difficulties for higher-tier items, or Mythic+ dungeons or heroic raid bosses for gear that is used in the endgame. The crests can then be exchanged with an upgrader, such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and routes.

Using these new currencies isn't that difficult however, the system does introduce some modifications to the upgrade process. When a piece reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it is no longer required to purchase Flightstones. This is to allow players to upgrade their gear up to the highest possible ilvl on all their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.

It's also crucial to choose crests with care, since they are only used for one purpose. It's Best item upgrade to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the top-quality equipment that you can find, and save Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next set of upgrades. This is particularly true for items such as trinkets and rings that fill multiple slots. The discount for the entire account is only applicable when all the slots on the character are filled with top-quality equipment.
