From VSt Wiki

Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade

The process of upgrading an item, often called "upping," improves an item's stats. Each upgrade increment provides an increase in the linearity of any stat.

Players can recycle six items at once to gain a gauge for the upgraded component of each item. The cost of recycling an item increases with its rarity and level.

Upgrade components

A level upgrade in Guild Wars 2 is a process that can boost the power of your weapons and armor. This can be accomplished in a variety of ways, including by using upgrade components or by increasing the rarity of an item or its mark level. In addition, many items can be reforged to increase their stats.

Upgradeable items can be found in the game, both around the world and as rewards for missions. They can also be crafted by players. The main way to upgrade equipment is by making use of upgrade components which are the items that can be slotted into equipment. Most equipment has slots that can be upgraded, and many require a certain amount of upgrade. Certain upgrade components offer specific bonuses while others give a general bonus.

There are many types of upgrade components available in the game, including universal upgrades, inscriptions and jewels. The universal upgrades, such as gemstones and enchantments, can be placed on any equipment, and offer less than upgrades that are specific to equipment. Glyphs are only available on gathering tools. They provide a variety bonuses, ranging from boosting the speed of an item upgrader Mod (fewpal.com)'s gathering to providing extra crafting material.

Select the item in your inventory, and then open the Upgrade window. This will display a preview on the right side of the screen that shows what the expected stats are after the upgrade, along with any necessary components or materials. If you don't have enough of either, the Upgrade button will be marked as Blocked.

The amount of upgrade items components required for a particular item can be seen in the upper-right corner of the window for upgrading. The cost of upgrading increases with the upgrade level and rarity, however it can be reduced through a variety of methods, such as buying upgrades at a merchant or trading them with other players.

Almost all weapons can be upgraded by a prefix upgrade for example, an insignia or rune, and a lot of them are upgraded by suffix upgrades. These upgrades alter the name of the item, adding an adjective, such as 'Radiant' or 'Minor Vigor.' The exceptions are the non-inscribable weapons, such as shields and foci from Prophecies and Factions campaigns, which cannot be upgraded with any kinds of mods in any way.

Glyphs

Glyphs are a way to communicate visual information. They animate in order to draw the attention of the viewer and spark curiosity. The animation of glyphs mimics the body language, making them more effective in communicating a linguistic barrier-crossing message. Glyphs also evoke a sense of familiarity in the brain, which increases retention of the message.

Each glyph comes with a range of values that it could increase a stat's value in the form of an item when you open the glyph in the Glyph Storage or when you use them to enchant an Artifact. This range is the maximum value that a glyph could improve a stat by but not the amount it will actually increase it by. The value of the glyph will depend on the tier and quality of the item you are enchanting.

The majority of upgrade components inserted into items can't be removed or replaced without dismantling them, with the exception of legendary upgrades and equipment. However, if you have a rune or glyph that has not yet been incorporated into your gear, you can move it to a different piece of equipment by utilizing the upgrade Glyphs context menu on the Glyphs panel. This will create the new Glyph Set with the selected glyph.

If you wish to remove a glyph from an item you must salvage it with an Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool. The item will be destroyed that it was installed in however, you can salvage the upgraded item using the glyph and its fragments, so this should not be considered a loss.

Adding a glyph to an item may cause it to become unstable, and the shards that are left of that glyph will disappear from your inventory once you dismantle the item upgrader. You can also apply an inscription to your equipment to give it an extra benefit. Deferred Damage, for example can be used to store damage and then be dealt slowly to the wearer rather than all at one time. This is beneficial for players who are taking many hits from their enemies but don't want to be overwhelmed.

Reroll tokens

Reroll tokens can be used to alter the affixes that are placed on weapons and other equipment. They can be obtained from a variety of sources, including mystery boxes and rare drops from skulled monsters or by killing bosses. Every reroll grants the player an affix randomly chosen and generally better than the one they had before. Reroll tokens can also be used to upgrade weapon stats to cause more damage or bonuses.

Items that have been rerolled will not appear in the item upgrade menu, however they are still eligible to receive upgrades. By pressing the "upgrade button", you can recycle the rerolled items. This will change the layout of the item's window and let up to six items be selected for recycling. The gauge of level is increased by recycling an item. The amount is determined by the rarity of the item and its level, therefore items with higher levels are more useful to recycle than lower-level ones.

Players can also make use of Reroll Tokens and Star Remnants to reroll weapons to upgrade units. A reroll will roll the % chance of a weapon trait. If it rolls higher, the weapon is upgraded. If it rolls lower, it remains the same. Weapons can be upgraded up to three times.

Rerolling is a great method to improve an Best item upgrader. However, players must be aware that the total ilvl will be decreased by the number of that it took to reroll it to the final ilvl. This reduction effect is most effective on Diadems and ring items that do not have any alternatives to raise their ilvls.

Some players have complained that the reroll system is too expensive. It's more fair to allow people to pay for it with money or food items that allows players to make adjustments to their builds without spending excessive amounts of time. However, paid rerolls are not something the developers are planning to implement at this point in the game's development. Instead, they're planning to include an ability to change races in the future.

Leveling

There are a variety of ways to upgrade an item. The first is to increase the upgrade amount, which increases the value of an upgrade for the stat. The alternative is to increase the effect of an upgrade, which increases the damage or healing of a stat. The base item can be upgraded to an advanced upgrade type. The new item will retain its iLevel, but will be upgraded to reflect the effects of the upgraded item.

It is important to keep in mind that upgrades can be random. In most cases a better roll is determined by glyphs. However there are occasions when a greater or special roll may occur. Additionally, the iLevel of the upgrade will be determined by the type of item, so when you upgrade a rare or unique item to an extraordinary type it will have a chance to get an iLevel that is higher.

The cost of upgrading items can be expensive, particularly when you're upgrading an item of equipment from the standard to legendary track. The price will be based on the item's base iLevel and the amount of upgrade levels it has. In addition, some upgrade tracks require crests to get to the next upgrade level.

If you're lucky, your upgraded item will be at the highest level on its upgrade track and unlock an additional benefit. This will provide a significant boost in the upgrade value of the item. The bonus effect will change with each upgrade level. In general, the upgrade effect is increased a value of +3.

Based on the item's base level and upgrade route, the iLevel of the upgraded item will also change. For example an item upgraded from being a rare or exclusive item to an extraordinary one will have the chance to gain the Enhanced Defence of the new base item.
