Avoid Making This Fatal Mistake You re Using Your Item Upgrades

Path of Exile item Upgrader kit Upgrades

Upgrades to items are a common and essential way to boost the performance of numerous items in Path of Exile. They can cause additional damage, AD or even affixes.

Often times however, upgraded Common and Magic gear is outclassed by Rare-grade equipment due to their requirements.

Armor

Armor upgrades can be applied to both weapon and armor items. They boost the performance of the item upgrading that they are attached to. Armor upgrades can be found in the game's world and can be purchased from Blacksmiths at any bonfire. Alternately, they can be rescued from items with upgrade items components inside them, using an expert or greater salvage kit.

The level of an armor's or weapon's upgrade determines the amount of damage it is able to absorb. A piece of armor upgraded to the highest upgrade level will increase the damage it absorbs. However, it's important note that this will also increase its weight, causing it to weigh more than it was before.

There are many different kinds of armor upgrades available in the game. Each has a different impact. Certain upgrades give armor an extra number of health points while others make it stronger and lighter. The name of the upgrade will indicate the type of upgrade the item can be given, as illustrated below.

Some of the upgrades also require magic or a hybrid technology and magic, which are identified by the "Magic" and "Hybrids" entries in the table. Certain upgrades also require fees to use. These are indicated as "Charges" entries in the table. These charges are either updated daily or never expire, depending on the upgrade.

Iron Ore is the cheapest way to improve your armor. You can find it by exploring and looting small chests. Titanium is more expensive however, it is available from the smelters in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Some upgrades, such as the Reforge and the Hot Potato Books, can only be applied to high level armor pieces. These upgrades can give a significant improvements in stats and are well worth the investment.

The process of upgrading an armor piece to max upgrade level will significantly increase its defense capabilities, but the player should be aware that putting on weight will drastically reduce its agility and speed. For this reason, it is typically not recommended to upgrade the majority of armor pieces above +9, since the added defense is generally not worth the extra weight and power costs of the upgrades required.

Weapons

Weapon upgrades allow players to increase the effectiveness of specific aspects of an weapon. Upgrades can increase the accuracy of a rifle, or the damage that shotgun shells do. Certain weapons come with special upgrades that enhance their inherent qualities. Frictionless materials (improves stability, and reduces weapon overheating), and Kinetic coils (increases the projectile's acceleration to cause more damage) are two examples.

The majority of upgrades to weapons require three Power Dices, a different amount of Minerals and Erons and a whetblade to apply. They can be obtained by completing side quests or killing a certain amount of monsters and bosses.

The process of upgrading a weapon, equipment Set piece, or Whetblade requires visiting the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine and paying her an upgrade fee that is based on a specific number of Bars. The more bars needed to complete an upgrade, the higher the level. If you have multiple upgrade materials, the cost of upgrading will be less.

In Chapter 2: Season 5 the way you upgrade weapon and equipment sets has changed. Prior to Chapter 2 Season 5, you could upgrade your weapon and equipment by paying a specific amount of Bars. You could do this until your weapon or equipment reached its maximum upgrade level and at that point, the upgrades would reset.

It's possible, but it is dependent heavily on RNG. You should consider buying equipment with low upgrade levels and high base scores and stat distributions. These will then have a better chance of bringing you the highest tier benefits and blessings.

The majority of players will prioritize upgrades to the weapons they use most frequently to make sure they are able to level up faster. In addition players, they should think about upgrading the weapons they use with their squadmates to increase their power as well. Shepard for instance, should upgrade the M92F so that he can unlock the Beretta M93R. This will make the weapon more useful when used in conjunction by biotic specialists like Grunt and Tali.

Jewels

Jewels can be used to improve the effectiveness of a skill or provide additional effects in weapons and armor. They can be created using a process called jewelry crafting, which is where you combine a gem with several ingredients at a table for jewelry. The higher the grade of the gemstone, the better the secondary effect. These reagents are available from Treasure Goblins and World Bosses around the world, or by finding Legendary Gear. You can also purchase them from The Jeweler in exchange for gold and Scattered Prisms.

The Jeweler can enhance the quality of the gem in stages that range from Crude up to Royal. The boosts to stats will differ depending on the level the jewel is at when it's inserted into jewelry, weapons or equipment.

The Jeweler can create all kinds of gems, with the exception of rare and legendary ones, which require certain levels to gain. Jewels can be replaced with another one without damaging the original. However it is only possible to replace a jewel in an item of equipment once.

It is typical to use more jewels for aesthetic reasons. In addition to enhancing performance, the jewels also create an outer layer that is more durable than steel, so the repeated friction from pivots doesn't damage them as easily.

A Glyphmaster can offer glyphs to improve the appearance of your weapons and shields. These glyphs provide a small boost and can be freely swapped, but they're not guaranteed to appear as loot. Glyphs are like jewelry and can be upgraded by the Jeweler in exchange for gold and Scattered Crystals. Glyphs can also be removed and returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components, like aegis and traits, are not swappable, and are only recoverable by using an Upgrade Extractor or salvaging them with the Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool.

Trinkets

Trinkets are items of equipment that bestow an array of small, but beneficial benefits to your hero. You can find them in the starter area as loot or personal story rewards. They can also be obtained from vendors as well as through doing road interaction. They can also be made by jewelers, and then found or purchased at the Trading Post.

The first trinkets that a player is able to unlock is the cloak, which gives an unimportant but beneficial boost to speed of movement and evasion. After that, they'll be able to purchase amulets, rings and necklaces in a similar way to how a player can acquire armor and weapons. Each piece of equipment has one upgrade slot that accepts either a universal or jewel upgrade. Universal upgrades are smaller and are able to be used on any device. Jewels cannot be upgraded or replaced, and can only be used with certain trinkets.

These trinkets also grant additional buffs and skills that remain active even when the character is not in combat. This enables the hero to be more effective while inactive, and can also help fill in the void of a solid team or the absence of any slots from the talent tree which would normally be filled with the hero's best stats.

As a general rule trinket upgrades should be prioritized over BiS (Best in Slot) items you won't replace in the near future. Then, you should consider any items with desirable stats that aren't as important as the iLevel of the item to be upgraded. This is true especially if you want to upgrade multiple statistics on an item upgrading. It is better to upgrade one important stat than two less important ones.

Jungle players will often upgrade their yellow trinkets to a red one prior to the start of the game. Top and mid players, on the other hand will pick either a pink or green ward, based on the matchup. These choices will have an impact on the hero's ability to manage the map.

Aside from the things mentioned above, players can also find other trinkets in the game in the form of trophies and awards. These can be earned by completing certain milestones within the story. For instance, completing the main quest for a chapter or defeating an opponent. These can be viewed by selecting the relevant achievement in the reward tab of the hero menu.
