Another thing that could change is the possibility to upgrade equipment without having to reroll attachments, or pick which stats to increase. Similar to the base equipment, it must be done per item and the item comparison interface will not show all possible stats simultaneously.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player can increase the chance of finding items as well as the properties spawned by loot and the intensity of these properties. However, it does not, directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives the player an opportunity to get better gear earlier in the game. This is especially useful for early game runs, because players tend to put the scaling of weapons and defenses over raw damage gains.

In addition to influencing the discovery of items, Luck also increases the chances of success when upgrading items with the Blacksmith. This should not be confused with the Blacksmith's overall chance of upgrading that increases with each level of the item upgrading and can be further enhanced by using an anti-material, such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.

Armor, shields and weapons can spawn or be crafted by using the Luck property, which has an initial value of 40. These items can be enhanced with golden ingots, or spined leather (depending on their material type) to increase the value of 40 luck, or to increase the Luck of an item up to 140.

Certain items, such as the Hollow-infused weapon can also be crafted to increase the damage dealt by any skill that is able to deal damage by 5%. These items are available in the shop or crafted by using the appropriate ingredients.

Item Failure

Item upgrades are costly and not all upgrades will be successful. However, there are some cash shop items which allow players to increase their chance of success or stop them from losing an item if the upgrade is unsuccessful.

The rate of success of an upgrade can be seen in the Honing UI. The percentage indicates the probability of successful upgrading an item. This can be increased by using Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limits to how much the success rates can be improved and the probability of an upgrade failing can't be greater than 100%..

The performance of an upgrade is also affected by the luck of that item. Each item has an initial success rate of 25%, and each item with Luck increases the chance of success by an additional five percent.

Note that upgrades to items are rendered above the inventory items therefore enchantment glints and other effects could be obscured by the overlays. If you wish to disable the upgrade item overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
