Guide To Item Upgrades: The Intermediate Guide The Steps To Item Upgrades
Path of Exile Item Upgrades
Item upgrades are a common and important way to improve the performance of many items in Path of Exile. They can be a great source of extra damage and more AD or even more attaches.
Sometimes, however, upgraded Common and Magic gear is beaten out by Rare-grade equipment due to their requirements.
Armor
Armor upgrades are a form of upgrade that can be applied to weapons and armor items. They improve the performance of the item they are attached to. Upgrades to armor can be found in the world of games and are available from Blacksmiths on bonfires. Additionally, they can be rescued from items with upgrade components in them using an expert or greater salvage kit.
The level of an armor's or weapon's upgrade determines the amount of damage it is able to take on. The absorption of damage by an armor piece will increase when it's upgraded to its maximum upgrade level. It is important to note that this will increase the weight of the armor, so it must be heavier.
There are a variety of armor upgrade available in the game. Each has a different effect. Certain upgrades give armor an extra number of health points while others make it stronger and lighter. The name of the armor upgrade will indicate the kind of upgrade that an item upgrade will be given, as illustrated below.
Some of the upgrades also require magic or a hybrid technology and magic, which is indicated by the "Magic" and "Hybrids" entries in the table. Some upgrades also require charges for use. They are referred to as "Charges" entries in the table. The charges associated with these upgrades change every day or never expire, according to the upgrade.
The cheapest method of upgrading armor is by using Iron Ore, which can be obtained through exploring the surroundings and looting minor loot chests. Titanium is more costly, but is readily available in the smelters of Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Some upgrades, such as the Reforge and the Hot Potato Books, can only be applied to high level armor pieces. These upgrades can provide a significant boost to performance and are worth the investment, especially for 1-handed weapons.
A piece of armor upgraded to the highest upgrade level will dramatically increase its defense capabilities, but the player should be aware that increasing its weight will drastically reduce its speed and agility. It is not recommended to upgrade armor beyond +9. The added defense generally isn't worth the weight and power expenses of the upgrades.
Weapons
Weapon upgrades let players increase the effectiveness of certain aspects of an weapon. For instance, an upgrade may increase the damage dealt by the shells of a shotgun or the accuracy of the rifle that snipes. Some weapons also have special upgrades that enhance their inherent capabilities. Frictionless materials (improves stability, reduces the risk of weapon overheating), and Kinetic coils (increases the projectile's acceleration to cause more damage) are two examples.
Most weapon upgrades require one of three Power Dices, a different amount of Minerals and Erons and a whetblade for applying. These can be obtained by completing Side Quests, taking out a certain number of monsters or bosses or from the Weapon Upgrade NPC in Central Flarine.
To upgrade an equipment set, weapon piece or Whetblade you need to visit the NPC [ArmorBoboko. Boboko located in Central Flarine, and pay her an upgrade fee of a certain amount of Bars. The higher the upgrade level, the higher the number of bars you will need to complete the upgrade. The cost of upgrading will be lower if you have more than one of the upgrade materials.
In Chapter 2: Season 5, the way you upgrade your weapon and equipment sets changed a little. Prior to Chapter 2 Season 5 you could upgrade your weapon and equipment by paying a specific number of Bars. You could continue to do this until you reach a maximum upgrade level for your weapon or equipment, after which the upgrades would reset.
You can still do this, however, the process is high on RNG and low on agency. You should consider buying equipment that has minimal upgrade levels but with high base scores and stat distributions. These items have a higher chance of giving you the highest tier benefits and blessings.
The majority of players will make the most of upgrades to weapons they are most likely to use to make sure they are able to level up faster. Players should also upgrade the weapons that their teammates utilize to increase their power. Shepard, for example, should upgrade the M92F to unlock the Beretta M93R. This will make the weapon more useful when used in conjunction by biotic specialists like Grunt and Tali.
Jewels
Jewels are used in the armor's sockets and weapons, enhancing the stats of a weapon and providing additional effects. Jewelry crafting is a method for creating them. You combine the gemstone with specific reagents on a jewelry table. The higher the tier of the jewel is, the greater its secondary effect. These reagents are obtained in the world from Treasure Goblins, World Bosses and sometimes by salvaging Legendary equipment. You can also purchase them from The Jeweler for gold and a Scattered Prism.
The Jeweler can boost the quality of a gem in stages ranging from Crude up to Royal. The stat boosts will vary according to the tier that the jewel is at when it's slotted into jewelry, weapons or equipment.
The Jeweler is able to create all tiers of gems, apart from the rare and legendary ones which you must be at certain levels to gain. Jewels can be substituted with another one without damaging the original. You are able to replace the jewel once within an Best item upgrade of equipment.
Utilizing more jewels in a movement will make it feel smoother and is typically performed to enhance the aesthetics of the movement. In addition to improving performance, the jewels create an outer layer that is more durable than metal, which means that repeated friction from pivots won't damage them as easily.
A Glyphmaster can offer glyphs to improve the appearance of your weapons and shields. These provide a small bonus and can be swapped freely, but are not guaranteed to drop as loot. Glyphs are like jewelry and can be upgraded by the Jeweler in exchange for Scattered Crystals and gold. Glyphs can also be removed and returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components, such as traits or aegis cannot be exchanged and can only be retrieved through an upgrade extractor or salvaging using a Black Lion Salvage Kit, or Ascended Salvage.
Trinkets
Trinkets are pieces of equipment that bestow a wide range of small, but beneficial benefits to your hero. They are available in the starting area as loot or personal story rewards. They can also be obtained from vendors as well as through the completion of road interactions. They can also be crafted by jewelers, and found or purchased on the Trading Post.
The first trinkets a player unlocks will be the cloak. It grants a small, but valuable boost to speed of movement and evasion. The player will then be able to acquire rings, amulets and necklaces, in a similar way similar to how they obtained weapons and armor. Every piece of equipment has a slot for an upgrade that is either universal or jewel. Universal upgrades provide smaller bonuses and can be put into any kind of equipment however, jewelry cannot be replaced or upgraded and is only compatible with certain kinds of trinkets.
These trinkets also provide additional buffs and skills that are active when the hero is not in combat. This lets a hero be more efficient while inactive. It also helps compensate for the lack of a good team or talent tree slots that are normally filled by the hero's optimal stats.
A good rule of thumb for trinket upgrades is to prioritize BiS (Best item upgrader-in-Slot) items that you won't be replacing in the near future, then any items with desirable stats but less important than the iLevel of the item that is being upgraded. This is particularly true if an item upgrader mod has multiple stats that you'd like to upgrade since it's generally better to upgrade a single important stat rather than two sub-optimal ones.
Jungle players will often upgrade their yellow trinket to a red one at the beginning of the game. Mid and top players, on the other hand will pick a green or a pink ward, based on the matchup. These choices can affect a hero's ability to control the map.
In addition to the items listed above, players may also discover a variety of other trinkets in the game in the form of trophies and awards. They can be obtained through completing certain milestones within the story. For instance, completing the main quest of a chapter or defeating a boss. They can be viewed by selecting the appropriate achievement in the reward tab of the hero menu.
