Noah Pinsonnault is a product review analyst for the Home Care and Cleaning Lab at Good Housekeeping.
He tests and evaluates cleaning equipment. His main focus is robot vacuums, and mopping combinations. These multitaskers are a great option for those looking to cross mopping off the to-do list. Some have great mapping capabilities and obstacle avoidance. Some even wash and refill mopping pads to ensure a hands-free clean.
The Eufy S1 Pro
This is the model you need to select if you're looking for a robot vacuum cleaner that also mop. It's smaller than the other models which makes it more maneuverable in tight corners or under furniture. It comes with a 220 degree Lidar that, when combined with the 3D Matrix Camera System, gives it some of my favorite navigation and object avoidance capabilities I've seen in robot vacuums. It's got a battery of 4600mAh which can last up to 170 minutes if cleaning and sucking are set to standard mode. (It can run longer on turbo). It will even return to its dock to recharge its battery during the cleaning.
It's very fast and does a fantastic job of cleaning my two bedroom apartment. It can vacuum carpeted rooms fast, and hardwood floors in the kitchen, living room, and hallways with just one motion. Its suction motor of 8,000pa will quickly pick up dirt, crumbs and pet hair. Carpet detection automatically boosts power when it detects rugs and the double side brush helps to remove debris from corners.
The mopping performance is less impressive, though not by much. The rotating mop spins fast and makes use of 2.2lbs to scrub dirt and stains. I've also noticed that the front arms extend out slightly more than other robots that vacuum and mop, which is useful to get into tight corners and along baseboards. The front arms can also be used to collect larger debris such as books and toys that have been damaged.
The S1 Pro is also one of the quietest robot mop and vacuums I've tested. It doesn't make as loud of a sound while vacuuming or mopping and is quieter than the Narwal Freo X Ultra or RoboRock S7. The only drawback is that the S1 Pro must use a specific cleaning solution to perform mopping and is sold separately from the vacuum. It's easy to install and performs well however this is something you'll have to keep an eye on if you're buying this robot vacuum solely for the purpose of it mopping.
The Roborock Q Revo
The Q Revo is different from other robot vacuums in its class. It is a powerful cleaning machine with a range of features.
The device is equipped with a powerful and impressive cleaning system that integrates LiDAR sensors with an RGB camera to map your home and identify furniture and other obstacles. It then uses this information to clean efficiently and effectively. This leads to an efficient, consistent clean which is also relatively fast.
In terms of mopping, the Q Revo's DuoRoller mop pads are capable of reaching an array of surface areas. They can reach corners or baseboards, as well as other difficult-to-access spots. They also have a stretchy side brush that can be extended to reach the floor near walls and other fixtures. Additionally, the mop pads can be dried and washed to prevent the build-up of dust and reduce odors.
App-based customization is yet another noteworthy feature. The Q Revo lets you adjust the suction strength and select either a back-and-forth or a random pattern. You can also choose the number of passes which determines how fast it can move around your home. You can also turn off the side brush to prevent damage to carpets and carpets.
The device has a high price tag but is packed with a wide array of innovative features. It is important to note that the device will incur recurring expenses in the form mopping supplies and regular maintenance. For example the brushroll should be replaced every six to twelve months or after 300 hours. The filter must be cleaned after 150 hours and the mop pad must be replaced every three to six months.
This robot vacuum mop has an excellent Amazon rating and includes many physical automation features. The vacuum also has an power button that doubles as the 'Clean button' and a Home' button to send it home after cleaning. It also has a multifunctional dock that automatically empty the dustbin and refills its water tank to mop and washes and dries its mop pads.
The Shark Matrix Plus
The Shark Matrix Plus will be the ideal option for busy professionals or anyone who wants to keep their home tidy without spending too much time doing chores. Its powerful performance, smart navigation and long battery life make it simple to maintain a clean house with little effort.
The Matrix Plus robot vacuum is a two-in-one mop and vacuum. It is capable of mopping and vacuuming. The robot comes with two modules: a combined dry bin and reservoir of water, and a separate mopping unit with a microfiber pad that snaps into and out of position. Separate modules for mopping and vacuuming may seem a bit old-fashioned but they're a good thing because you don't have to worry about changing disposable bags or refilling the tank with water.
The Matrix Plus performed well at vacuuming and mopping. Its greatest feature was its accurate floorplan, which it uses to draw the path to follow when cleaning. This made it a breeze for the Matrix Plus to navigate around furniture carpets, rugs, and other obstacles. The app also offers the option to set "No-Go zones" and virtual barriers that help to shield certain areas of your house from being swept with a mop.
The Matrix Plus also did a remarkable job at collecting pet hair. It was able capture a large amount of hair our cats shed and even got into the nooks and crannys of our stairs, where other robots struggled. The noise levels of the robot were low and there were nice jingles to signal that it was starting and getting its work done.
The app was too easy and you had to alter the modules each time you changed between mops and vacuuming. The app isn't able to store multiple maps, which can be a hassle for homes that has a variety of floors. The Matrix Plus is a good option for those who want an intelligent robot that is capable of vacuuming and mopping.
The Yiko X1 Omni
The X1 Omni is the most expensive robot vacuum that mops in our review, but it comes with some distinctive features that make it worth taking into consideration. The X1 Omni's most appealing feature is its massive dock that doubles as a charging base as well as housing for two water tanks, a cleaning sink and the 2.5-liter dust bin that is automatically empties.
The base comes with a couple of buttons for control that let you manually start cleaning tasks or recall the robot, or run the dock’s auto-emptying procedure. Hold down two buttons to switch off the child lock. This is a nice feature for parents who are worried about their children messing around with the vacuum.
Like other robotic vacuums, the X1 Omni utilizes its camera to identify furniture and obstacles in its path and avoid them. Its True Mapping 2.0 navigation system can map your home 10 times faster than conventional laser detection systems and is four times more precise at recognising objects.
Unfortunately, this means that the X1 Omni can sometimes get so entangled with an obstacle--such as a power cord draped across a rug that it becomes stuck and stops working until you remove it manually. This was a rare incident however it was frustrating since the X1 does not have an "stuck status" alert on its app.
Another potential downside is the X1 Omni's inability to automatically switch between mopping and vacuuming modes during a cleaning robot mop and vacuum session. You'll have to manually switch between the two modes, which isn't too bad however, the mopping pad isn't cleaned or dried between use. This can lead to mildew and mold.
On the positive side the X1 Omni is a beautiful-looking robot, thanks to the design team at Jacob Jensen (of Bang & Olufsen fame) who dreamed up its modern and sleek base as well as mopping pad. It's a significant departure from the utilitarian, black bases of competitors like Roborock and iRobot and is a refreshing view in a market which is dominated by clunky boxes and clunky models.
