What is an Item Upgrader in Pokemon Go?

The upgrader for items adds a new widget to the top of the Angel and Cash Upgrade windows. The Manager is priced at 33 billion Angel Investors, and has no other benefit to the game, aside from making it easier to purchase upgrades.

Boosts

The amount of extras that you gain by upgrading is contingent on the number of upgrades performed. Each upgrade will increase the number of extras by a maximum of 3 points. Each upgrade will also increase the stats in the main menu by +1.

Some upgrades also give you a secondary random boost in addition to stat enhancements. These secondary boosts can be very valuable and must be considered when deciding on which items to upgrade. Certain of these boosts may only be used in specific designs (such the Whistan's Shield in FB Sorcs), while others are valuable to collectors.

Some items have a built-in boos, which is less beneficial when upgraded. For instance, the Goldwrap has an extra potion slots. These are usually upgraded to add more value to a nearly perfect item.

Costs

Upgrades are accompanied by some associated costs. The first cost is the upgrade itself. It can be costly and depends on the new level of the item as well as the number of perks it gets. Upgrades to a higher level (such as Explorer to Champion or Veteran to Heroic) are costly.

The other is the cost of the items required for an upgrade. The items used for upgrades are usually either Power Dices (dropped by monsters 21and up) or Minerals and Erons (obtainable through completing specific Mists of Pandaria or Warlords of Draenor quests). These materials are available in the inventory of an upgrade vendor.

Upgrading an item is a complex process that takes time. Based on the magnitude of the upgrade, it could take up to 8 hours. The base stats of the upgraded item are calculated based on its new ilvl and other characteristics. This calculation determines the new Armor Class bonuses, damage dice, and other vital statistics. In some instances an upgrade may grant additional perks. These perks are listed on a table.

Rarely, the new advantages gained will cost more than one perk slot In these instances the upgrade will replace the perks with the highest cost. The upgrader can also make other modifications to the item, such as changing the damage type of its weapon, or adding or removing an operative or unwieldy feature. The cost of these changes is based on the item's current ilvl and it could require a special substance like adamantine alloy.

Success Rate

Item upgrades are based on a chance, and like any random system there is a chance that the upgrade won't be successful. However, there are some things that can help to increase the chance of success. This includes using an item dubbed an Upgrade Pity, or the addition of additional items to the upgrade.

The Upgrade Pity can be purchased from the NPC for smithing in Lost Ark. It increases the chances of an upgrade succeeding by a certain percentage. This is similar to the luck bonus some items come with but is more stable. It can be added to any weapons or armor and can be used three times.

It is also possible to add a range of additional items to the upgrade, thereby increasing its chance of success. These are shown in a separate window, above the + button. There are however limitations to this, and the highest amount of material that can be added is shown directly above the + button in the UI.

Another way to increase the chance of an upgrade succeeding is by using the item known as the Blacksmith Blessing or an upgraded version of it. This item is helpful if you have an item or weapon equipment that has reached the highest level for its tier or is close to it. It will allow you to upgrade the equipment to the next level without worrying about it breaking.

If an upgrade fails, the system will be restored to its original state. This is often an upgrade, but it could also be an upgrade. Save an upgrade until you're close to the maximum level for an item.
